2.5D Sculptures in After Effects

Ramiro A. Fernandez has an interesting technique of taking multiple instances of a movie file (he uses flames) and offsetting them in time and 3D space. It’s a lovely effect and he doesn’t use any 3rd party plug-ins.

I’m thinking that this could be automated with a plug-in that can replicate and/or work with multiple layers of the same file in 3D space.

Download free demos of all three plug-ins at Toolfarm and try them out.

Here’s an introduction to Trapcode Echospace from The Pixel Lab that shows how this plugin lets you create and manipulate arrays of duplicated layers in After Effects. If you use Cinema 4D, you’ll appreciate the comparisons to the Cloner Object.

Peder says, “There is also a business-perspective: our goal is for our customers to wow their clients and make more money using the products than the cost of the products themselves, so it is turns out to be a very good investment for them.
