This week’s free footage from Artbeats and Pond5

Published by John Stanowski on August 23rd, 2010 - in Artbeats, Free

This week’s Free Clip from Artbeats is a full HD shot trucking through the woods. And Pond5 is offering a free full HD clip of heavy rain falling on a pavement. What might one do with either of clips I don’t know. But you could download them for free and save them for when you have a use… or for a rainy day. You’ll have to sign in to get the clips at both sites. (At Pond5 it’s not really clear how it works. You need to add the clip to your cart and when you check out the amount due will be $0.) Also, while you’re at the Pond5 site you might want to grab a set of 25 free sound effects as well. Some are practical, some are easily motion-graphics-ish.

Free abstract background footage from Artbeats

Published by John Stanowski on August 9th, 2010 - in Free

This week’s Artbeats freebie is a 20 second abstract background HD clip. Remember, backgrounds don’t have to settle for just being backgrounds. They could be masked inside of text or used as a compositing layer with the right blending mode. And it’s always a good idea to have a collection of stock elements for times when time is short. Get the clip here.

Photographer Caleb Kimbrough has a passion for finding and capturing textures and lucky for us, he likes to share. He collected over 450 samples from his collection and made them available on his website Zen Textures. The images cover a wide range of textures including paper, concrete, fabric, stone, metal, wood and, of course, grunge. The images are fairly big and perfect for adding a little tactile flair to your After Effects projects. The textures are free to download and use in personal and commercial projects.
