Spinning Spiky Star Background

I was playing around with Trapcode Particular, trying to do something completely different, and ended up with this interesting background. You can easily change the color by changing ‘Color over Life’. Also, try changing the Particle Type from Star to Cloudlet for another interesting effect.

Download spinstar.ffx – zipped. Apply preset to any full screen solid.

Letter Box cheat presets

Sure letterboxes are easy to make, but I’ve made it even easier for you. This zip file contains four letterbox settings for four different sized comps, all NTSC, so sorry, my European friends. I can do that in another post if you would like.

Drag the presets to their new homes in your AE applicaton folder, and apply to a solid that is full screen. Easy cheesy.

Shapes: No Symbol

The universal symbol for ‘No’ is just a circle with a diagonal line running through it from the upper left to the lower right. You put this over anything that is not permitted… like ‘No Smoking’ or ‘No Entry’.

This shape should be applied to any color of full screen layer. It will automatically fill with red, bevel the alpha and add a drop shadow. Scale as needed.

Download the ‘No’ Symbol’ FFX file (zipped).

To install: Drop it into your Presets folder in your Adobe After Effects application folder. Refresh your Effects and Presets list if needed, by choosing ‘Refresh List’ in the flyout menu on the Effects and Presets palette.
