How to make a split screen without a green screen

Published by Michele Yamazaki on November 17th, 2008 - in Adobe, After Effects, Final Cut Pro, Tutorial, Video

Bill Cammack, an internet friend and New Yorker, shows you how to create a duplicate of yourself, sort of like the Parent Trap or Patty Duke (wasn’t it Patty Duke who had the identical cousin?) The tutorial shows you how to do it in FCP, but it’s exactly the same method in After Effects.

Okay, I found the Patty Duke Show open so all you youngsters don’t think I’m crazy.

Some AE Fun with Trapcode 3D Stroke from Dennis Radeke

Trapcode 3D Stroke = Fun in my opinion. Visit The Genesis Project for the article and project files. If you want to play along, but don’t have 3D Stroke, you can download a trial version here. If you love it (which I KNOW you will), here’s where you can buy it. It’s a bargain at $99 and one license will work in several host applications on the same computer. And it’s fun. Whee!

Getting Started with Radium Glow Video Tutorial

John Dickinson has just uploaded a new training video for Red Giant Software Radium Glow. The video is 17 minutes(35MB Quicktime) and John explains the basic workflow for the plug-in.

This was the first time I’d used the effect and have been pretty impressed with the results; you have a lot of control over exactly how and where the glow appears on your footage. Definitely worth a look.

The tutorial shows the Adobe After Effects version but it the plug-in also works in Adobe Premiere Pro, Apple Final Cut Pro, Motion and Avid AVX2 systems. One license, all host apps on one computer!
