Now that I’ve spread the love a little bit, I will introduce myself. My name is Cameron King. I love After Effects and all the things it brings to the storytelling process. I love it so much, I started an After Effects group in Washington DC. I will be posting tips, new tricks, old tricks, and basic AE knowledge on this site from time to time. I come from a video editing background, so I will approach my posts from a motion picture editor’s view. I hope you enjoy and use After Effects to it’s greatest potential.

In case you missed it, Harry Frank recently showed how to make Trapcode Particular‘s particles dance using Trapcode Soundkeys. Check out the tutorial at Harry’s site or over at Red Giant TV.

If you just gotta have more you can download Video Copilot’s free “Particle Animation to Music” project file. You’ll need After Effects CS4 and Trapcode Particular 2. The music is not included but you’ll be able to get a closer look at Andrew Kramer’s keyframes and amazing Particular settings.

Tutorial: Use Expressions to Speed up Text in AE

Harry Frank has a video up at Studio Daily about Using expressions to speed up lower third creation in After Effects. He explains how to create a document that links to the text document with corresponding scene numbers… a very cool way to speed up simple but tedious work. It’s not difficult, but this is definitely not something you’d figure out yourself, unless you’re a javascript programmer, or a whiz with expressions.
