Getting Started with Radium Glow Video Tutorial
John Dickinson has just uploaded a new training video for Red Giant Software Radium Glow. The video is 17 minutes(35MB Quicktime) and John explains the basic workflow for the plug-in.
This was the first time I’d used the effect and have been pretty impressed with the results; you have a lot of control over exactly how and where the glow appears on your footage. Definitely worth a look.
The tutorial shows the Adobe After Effects version but it the plug-in also works in Adobe Premiere Pro, Apple Final Cut Pro, Motion and Avid AVX2 systems. One license, all host apps on one computer!

Tutorial: Generate a Volumetric Light Effect
In this tutorial, we will use BCC Rays Cartoon to generate a volumetric lighting effect on an animated text element; BCC Rays Carton will also give the text the appearance of being made of neon lights. Then, we will use BCC Light Sweep to add a light sweep across the face of the text. Finally, to complete the effect, we will use BCC Colorize Glow to provide a soft glowing look.
Tutorial: Create Glow Effects Using the Boris Glow Filters
There are several Boris Continuum Complete (BCC) filters that were designed to produce the glow effect that is very popular for sports broadcast and commercial spots. In this new tutorial, we will use BCC 5 AE in Adobe After Effects CS3 to give you an overview of the BCC Glow, BCC Colorize Glow, and BCC Glow Alpha Edges filters. These same filters are available for Avid and Apple Final Cut Pro editors with a similar workflow using BCC 5 AVX and BCC 5 FxPlug. In addition, the glow filters are included with RED 4.2, Boris FX 9.2, and Graffiti 5.2.

John Dickinson just sent me the link to a video he just finished for Red Giant Software: Getting Started with Magic Bullet Looks. It’s coming out soon. I can’t say exactly when, but doesn’t this get you excited about it! The interface and ease of use are unparalleled. It will be a lot of fun just to get in there and experiment.
And…. get this… the Standalone LooksBuilder will be given away for free! The free standalone works will still images like Tiffs and Jpegs and presets can be saved. The plug-in works with video.

Free Boris Continuum Complete Z-Blur Filter!
Get BCC Z-Blur for your Adobe, Apple, Autodesk, or Avid host application! Offer expires on March 23, 2007.
BCC Z-Blur emulates a rack focus effect where the focal plane moves between a near and far plane. The near and far planes in the filter define the area of the image along the Z axis that is blurred. The area between the planes remains sharp. With the BCC Z-Blur filter, you can set a channel from the image clip, and then use that channel to control the racking focus blur.
