MAXON has a new site with a Summer Challenge: Enter the ring with a short prize fight themed animation you create with After Effects CC and Cinema 4D Lite for a fighting chance to win MAXON CINEMA 4D Broadcast!
Mikey Borup, who will be presenting at the 2014 After Effects World Conference in Seattle, shows a nightmarish mind trip of an effect showing a person splitting in two. The effect is based on an effect seen on Netflix’s Hemlock Grove. Fun stuff and it’s fairly complicated too. He uses multiple instances the Liquify Tool to give the stretch effect and adds some interesting color correction too. Check out Mikey’s YouTube Channel, After Effects Tutorials w/ Mikey. He puts out new stuff twice per week.
Read the Press Release at Toolfarm’s blog. It’s a huge update and there’s no sense in posting twice.
However, if you don’t want to read the whole thing, here’s an excerpt from the Press Release about the video apps:
New features in the video apps include: Live Text Templates and Masking and Tracking – new integrations that leverage the power of Adobe After Effects CC inside Adobe Premiere Pro CC. Race through projects thanks to enhanced graphics performance in Premiere Pro; precise new keying effects in After Effects; a more flexible Direct Link color pipeline in Adobe SpeedGrade CC; and enhanced multi-track tools for audio work in Adobe Audition CC. Integration between apps has also been further improved to save time when working between Premiere Pro and After Effects or SpeedGrade.
There’s a Mac beta for Lightworks, a full-featured video editor. More on the Mac Beta of Lightworks.
There is also a Linux beta that has been out a few months.
The pro version will be for purchase but there’s a free version for Windows that has been out a while, allowing for only exports of MPEG-4 (Web, YouTube and Vimeo) and the maximum resolution is 720p. Download it here.
