FCP to AE

Last week at the DC After Effects User Group meeting, one of our fellow members presented us with a way to roundtrip from FCP to AE. I really enjoyed the demonstration and wanted to investigate further. I found this video. It shows you how to import into Premier. And then once you follow the steps in this video, you can simply just roundtrip your projects into AE, which is what the two programs are meant to do. Check it out and hopefully you’ll find yourself using this technique in your workflow:

FCP to Premier

I am an FCP editor. I love doing my effects in After Effects. Both are great pieces of software. They just have a hard time communicating with each other. Not anymore. You have to bring your FCP project into Premiere before going to AE, but it’s still better if you like to be organized and like to see all of your video layers. Fantastic.
