Do you Twitter? Follow Toolfarm on Twitter.

I’ve had a personal account on Twitter that I’ve been posting sales information, new products, and that kind of thing, but now get updates from Toolfarm without hearing about my cats or my daughter’s birthday parties :-) .

Now, get lightning fast updates on sales, just as they’re being announced, new products and updates, live microblogging from NAB and even some product gossip (When is Final Cut Studio 3 coming out anyway?). We can also answer quick questions you might have via Twitter (with a limit of 140 characters of course!)

Acrobat 9 Critical Update!

Published by Michele Yamazaki on March 19th, 2009 - in Adobe

I know this is an AE blog, but most of you are running Acrobat or Reader also. I received an email from Gary Hohler, Adobe Specialist, saying that a critical vulnerability has been identified in Acrobat Reader 9 and Acrobat 9 and earlier versions. This vulnerability would cause the application to crash and could potentially allow an attacker to take control of the affected system.

Get the full information here

Adobe recommends users of Adobe Reader and Acrobat 9 update to Adobe Reader 9.1 and Acrobat 9.1. Adobe has updates for Adobe Reader 7 & 8 as of March 18th. In addition Adobe plans to make available Adobe Reader 9.1 for Unix by March 25th.

Download Updates Here

Adobe categorizes this as a critical issue and recommends that users apply the update for their product installations.

Professional Keying with Keylight

The long awaited Professional Keying with Keylight training is now available for download in Toolfarm’s store. This is the latest release from Toolfarm’s Expert Series. In this training, Angie Mistretta takes you through pulling tight and clean keys with Keylight from the Foundry. She shows you how to overcome problem areas such as wispy hair and areas of different texture on the edges. She also shows some great tricks of the trade for making a believable composite. The training is for all user levels. A greenscreen shot and background plate are included so you can play along.

Professional Keying with Keylight training is now available only at Toolfarm for a mere $39!

About the instructor: Angie Mistretta has her Master from Academy of Art in San Francisco where she learned from instructors who had worked on blockbuster films such as Star Wars. She is now working at Pixar, a company which needs no introduction.

Here’s a trailer for the training:

Via Scott Simmons The Editblog:

Are you going to NAB this year? Do you need a free pass to the show floor?

Yes Apple isn’t going to be there and neither is RED or Quantel … But Avid is, Adobe is, all of the other camera manufacturers are going to be there. Plus there’s a lot of other great small software developers that will be on the show floor so there’s going to be a lot to see. Plus the Final Cut Pro SuperMeet will be happening as well. You might can find a good deal on a flight if you try hard or fly Southwest and you can definitely find a good deal on a hotel. Get a pass to the show floor and get to Vegas. I looks like I’ll be there too and I am very excited. And I will not eat at any buffets this year.

To get your free pass that includes access to the exhibit floor and the opening keynote (a $150 value) go to http://nabshow.com/passport and enter this code: TP01.

If you’re NAB alumni, I’ve also received the code DM01 for a free Alumni Exhibits passport.

I wrote an article last year or the year before called The NAB Survival Guide. I’ll dig it up and repost it. I have a busy week planned once again, working between the Red Giant, Digieffects and Boris booths and even doing some book signings for my new book with Jeremy Hanke, Greenscreen Made Easy.

So, I ask again:

Free Clip from Pond5

Published by Michele Yamazaki on March 12th, 2009 - in Free, Red Giant TV

Pond5, who is one of our friends on the links at the very top of the page at Toolfarm.com, has just launched their free clip of the week. Sign up for a free account at Pond5 and download it!

You can also upload your own high quality video clips to Pond5 if you’d like to sell them as stock footage. I’m sure they have some sort of approval process in place, but you’ll have to read the fine print if you’re interested in participating.

Also, Pond5 is letting Toolfarm use some of their clips for plug-in samples on the site, so keep your eyes peeled (always wondered where that cliche came from!) I’m going to be doing an upcoming episode of Red Giant TV and I’ll be using a clip or two from Pond5 in the tutorial. Pretty cool, eh!

Mobile Version of AE Freemart

Published by Michele Yamazaki on March 11th, 2009 - in Poll

Mobile AE Freemart

AE Freemart now is available for mobile phones in a user friendly way! See the screen shot to the above – just text, no ads or images. You can click an entry and read more about it. Embedded Flash movies still won’t show up, due to limitations on iPhone, but they may show up on other mobile phones. I really don’t know about other phones. You don’t need to type a special URL, it automatically loads the mobile version.

Just curious, how many of you visit websites on your mobile phones? I will do it if I’m in a waiting room, line, or airport to kill some time, or rather, make better use of my time than just people watching.
