I know, the old scratchy film thing has been done before. But, did ya know that (in the ‘export’ section) QuickTime Pro has an old film Dust and Scratches filter? I sometimes use this when I need some quick scratches and stuff on my animation. OR.. you can import a black clip into QT Pro, export it with the scratches, import that into AE and luma matte the image so you can overlay it. OR.. you can download the QuickTime movie I’ve prepared here. It’s 10 seconds worth of dust and scratches (720×540 at 60FPS) complete with an Alpha channel.
